## Do I have a right to a safe workplace?
Yes. Your employer must provide a workplace **free from recognized hazards** likely to cause death or serious physical harm.

## Can I refuse dangerous or unsafe work?
You may refuse work when you face an **imminent danger**: a reasonable belief that death or serious physical harm could occur before the hazard can be fixed.

Tell your employer first and ask them to correct it. Refusal is protected only when there is **no time** to remove the hazard through normal channels.

## How do I file a workplace safety complaint?
File a complaint with **OSHA** and you may request an inspection of your workplace. Complaints can be filed **online, by phone, by mail, or in person**.

You may ask OSHA to **keep your name confidential** from your employer.

## Can my employer punish me for reporting a safety problem?
No. It is illegal to fire, demote, transfer, or otherwise retaliate against a worker for filing a safety complaint, reporting an injury, or exercising any right under the Act.

A retaliation complaint must normally be filed **within 30 days**.

## What safety training must my employer provide?
Training must be given in **a language and vocabulary you understand**. You have the right to information about workplace hazards, including safety data sheets for chemicals you work with.
